  • Frank Smith 11:00am-12noon “Travel Photography Near and Far”

    • In this presentation, OM SYSTEM ambassador photographer Frank Smith will share with us many different elements and aspects from his travel far and near capturing nature. Near meaning where he can photograph within a short distance from home. An outdoor enthusiast, Frank has traveled around the globe with a keen focus on landscapes in every climate and will share insights on timing, lighting and travel prep that will make you want to grab your camera! Nature photography requires patience to stop and pause over and over again as the tiniest elements of a scene can change in an instant. Frank will share with us his techniques and imagery from his many photo journeys. Frank enjoys the remote areas of the various places around the globe he has visited. He knows to capture the shot it often means early rising and late to bed. Sunrises and sunsets create a dynamic that you cannot see during the daytime hours. Seasons change, lighting changes and so does the photographic opportunity. When photographing in nearby, Frank aso has a game plan in mind as to what / where he will shoot but is also flexible and prepared to shift in a moment's notice. Some photos take time - waiting for the perfect light or position. Others take recognizing the opportunity. This is where being open minded and ready to shoot pays off. Frank’s presentation will share how he takes the opportunity in the moment to capture something that he may not have been looking for - but happy he found. A sunset or water droplets on a blade of grass can create the most pleasing imagery. If you are not outdoors or if you don’t stop and look around, you will miss all that nature has to offer.

  • Joe McDonald 12:15pm-1:15pm “Best Techniques and Settings for Wildlife Photography”

    • In this presentation, OM SYSTEM ambassador Joe McDonald will delight us with an information filled hour as he is most interested in presenting solid information and educating our audiences, and not in simply providing a pretty slide show to stroke our egos. His program will, of course, showcase their award winning photographs, but these images are used to illustrate their concepts and to make the photographic points he is discussing. This session covers many topics including understanding spot metering, utilizing manual exposure, composition, using flash effectively, the computational pro-capture technology, and the application of lenses. Joe will discuss photographic techniques to make the most of your opportunities. Photo techniques will include discussions on the best camera settings, lenses and tripods, fill-flash, and even remote triggers for special, hard to get shots.

  • Emilie Talpin 1:30pm-2:30pm “Refraction, Water Drop”

    • In this presentation, OM SYSTEM ambassador Emilie Talpin will immerse you in the world of water drop photography, also known as refraction. Refraction is when the light passes from one medium and into another, affecting the direction of the light. In macro photography, the capture of a background subject into a foreground water drop is a good illustration of refraction. Emilie will disucss the ins and outs of capturing such images and go over the equipment needed as well as techniques and tips to make a successful photo.

  • Chris McGinnis 2:45pm-3:45pm “Best Techniques for Focus Stacking and True 1:1 Macro Photography”

    • In this presentation, OM SYSTEM ambassador Chris McGinnis will teach you to get up-close and personal with elusive live subjects, compose captivating scenes, and master depth of field to capture nature's intricate details. Chris will share his techniques for approaching them to compose compelling results. and describe the essential skill of maximizing depth of field in your macro shots—with and without in-camera focus bracketing —to ensure every detail is sharp and vibrant. Unleash your creativity, capture the hidden beauty of the natural world, and leave with a newfound passion for this intriguing genre of photography. He will define the term 1:1 (1X) discuss the both 60mm and 90mm lenses and how to get 1:1 with both lenses and 2X with the 90mm lens.

  • Lisa Cuchara 4:00pm-5:00pm “Tips and Techniques for Creative Photography”

Whether you are a seasoned photographer or just starting out, this session promises to enhance your skills and spark your creativity. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from an expert and elevate your photography!

  • Chris McGinnis “Best Techniques for Focus Bracketing and True 1:1 Macro Photography”

    • In 2014, Chris purchased an Olympus OM-D E-M10. It was his first ‘real’ digital camera. He was excited, but felt that essentially he had no idea what he was doing. In an effort to learn the ins and outs of his new camera and to improve his photography, he vowed to shoot (and share) at least one photo each day for an entire year. He joined Instagram and got started. After 365 days of shooting, sharing, and learning, he found myself more and more interested in the details. He bought a macro lens and hasbeen hooked ever since. Chris soon shifted his attention toward the beauty, design, and intricacy of arthropods which often go unnoticed. As he got deeper into the world of macro, he moved to an OM-D E-M1 Mark II, and then the OM SYSTEM OM-1. In early 2024, he upgraded to the brand new OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II. Even before Chris started producing macro images, he was drawn to the natural world and involved in the visual arts. As a kid growing up at the Jersey Shore, Chris spent plenty of time exploring outdoors and searching for small critters. When Chris was inside the house, he logged countless hours drawing in sketchbooks. Chris eventually earned my degree in graphic design from Moravian College and immediately began a career as a designer. After four years creating websites for a publishing company, Chris joined the Olympus America creative team and has been with Olympus for over seventeen years. Chris currently serves as Director of Creative Services and oversee all phases of Olympus’ graphic design, photography, and video production. He resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where the majority of my macro photos are made.

  • Emilie Talpin “Refraction, Water Drop”

    • Emilie Talpin is an OM SYSTEM Ambassador and 3 legged Thing Pro Team. She grew up in Chalon-sur-Saône, France, the birthplace of Nicéphore Niépce and the first photograph. Despite this background, she got into photography very late and in 2018 joined a local camera club where she met a group of talented photographers and was inspired to dive deeper into the art of capturing moments in time. Now, everywhere she goes, it is with her trusted camera by her side. Lately, she has been concentrating on wildlife and macro photography, in particular water drop refraction, but will occasionally stray with friends to an astro or landscape photo shoot. As a former French teacher, she is inherently eager to learn and try new material; a practice also applied outside the classroom as she explores the world around her and chases her next photo.

  • Matt Suess “Best Techniques for Milky Way & Star Trail Photos”

    • Matt Suess. Fine Art Photographer and OM SYSTEM, NiSi, Fotopro, Ororo Wear Ambassador Photography has always been a huge part of my life starting at the age of 12 when I had my own black & white chemical darkroom. That early interest launched a full-time professional photography career that began in 1990 and continues today. For the first 17 years of my career I was a photojournalist based in New England. I am a digital photography pioneer and began teaching digital photography to photojournalists in the late 90’s, helping bring digital cameras to two different newspapers. I was awarded the 2003 New England Press Association Photographer of the Year award for my work at the Cape Cod Times. During my time as a photojournalist, I also photographed weddings & portraits, as well as corporate & commercial assignments. In 2006 I decided to leave all of that behind and move West, where I am now a fine art landscape, nature, wildlife, travel, and Milky Way photographer, educator, and publisher. I also accept select luxury resort & architectural photography assignments. I teach numerous field & classroom workshops throughout the year as well as online courses and I provide occasional free online webinars. You may have already seen my videos/webinars for OM SYSTEM / Olympus, Hunts Photo & Video, B&H Photo, Skylum and ON1. My passion for sharing and teaching what I have learned during my long career is evident in my down-to-earth and encouraging approach with my clients. I am honored to be sponsored by OM SYSTEM/Olympus as an OM SYSTEM Ambassador but I teach photography to anyone using any camera brand. I live in Bozeman, Montana with my blue heeler cattle dog.
